EarthCraft Certification

What is an EarthCraft certified house?

The EarthCraft program was created via a joint venture of Southface Energy Institute and the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association. The purpose of the program is to set energy efficiency and environmentally friendly standards for residential construction. Builders must be trained in the Earthcraft requirements and each house that is certified, must be constructed to meet these standards and must pass a series of tests and inspections.

The Benefits of an EarthCraft House:

Owning an environmentally friendly house doesn’t mean making sacrifices. In fact, an EarthCraft house is one of the most high performance and resource-efficient homes you can buy.

EarthCraft House is a green building program that serves as a blueprint for healthier, more comfortable homes, which reduce utility bills and protect the environment.

EarthCraft House…
… offers the benefits of a healthy living environment;
… integrates a systems approach to building that ensures increased comfort and improved indoor air quality in the home;
… reassures home builders and buyers so they can have the peace of mind knowing that they have done the right thing for the environment.

Homeowners benefit from:
• Savings on operating, health and repair costs;
• Conservation of resources and energy;
• Improved air and water quality;
• Enhanced quiet, durability, and comfort.

Smart homeowners know it is the “cost of ownership” that truly determines the affordability of a home. In an EarthCraft House, the true cost of ownership is apparent with the first month’s utility bill.

The Lifestyle You Want

Any size and type of home can be an EarthCraft House. Builders and home buyers have freedom in selecting which environmental measures are best suited for the home they are constructing or remodeling.

At Landmark Builders Group, we are pleased that many of the EarthCraft requirements are part of our everyday business practices. Therefore, the costs to ‘upgrade’ to an EarthCraft certified house are minimal and consists primarily of upgrading the HVAC unit to high efficiency and upgrading whole house insulation, both of which will pay back in comfort and reduced energy bills.
